Editing Process.

For the editing stages during the Main Prodution of the Trailer we made significant use of a piece of Softwarre name 'Adobe Premiere Pro' on Apple Mac. This was the introduction of a brand new piece of material which we were using so the first thing we began with was the various tools which were included, what they did and how to use them correctly so we get used to using the software.

We searched for some Music which wanted to use within Our Trailer on YouTube, once we discovered the Track we wanted we then extracted the Track through a Converter which changed the Format of the file to MP3 so it would play on the Stream of the Trailer. The first thing we done was import the Soundtrack which were going to utilise for the mainstream track of the Trailer. We done this first so that the footage could be cut accordingly to the Melody as there are moments in the Track which builds suddenly and we deemed appropriate for striking footage to be attached to it.

Along the Left Hand side of the page all the Footage and Clips are arranged in a column, each clip is only a few seconds long depending on when the shot was cut and finished. This is part of the Video Camera Technology provided as on the Camera from when you Press Play and Stop that entire piece of Footage becomes one clip as opposed to having one long Stream of Footage which you would have to Cut and move around into a position where you want it. The clips disable this and enable you to work with the short shots that have been captured. We dragged and dropped the clips we wanted on the stream and then cut the Track using the Razor Tool appropriately. We made the decision to have the introductory images start before the Soundtrack is even heard. We used a 'Green Ratings Screen' first which then using the Video Effects Tab we faded this into the following Screen which is 'D&A Productions', thus then beginning the Track. As you can see, the Track and Video Streams are on different streams so that they can all be Cut accordingly. If the beginning of the Trailer is not effective then it will lose the interest of the Audience.

We got a 'Green Screen Ratings' off of Google Images and inserted this into the Stream through importing it, this convention was appropriate to include because generally this appears at the introduction of the majority of Horror Movie Trailers and we wanted to make our Product appear as professional as possible. This is also done so that the Audience watching are aware of the Age Rating of the film so when they go to see the Film they know whether or not they will be allowed to view it, depending on their age. This is placed at the beginning of the Trailer so that Audiences are immediately aware this film may not deem appropriate for certain ages.

As we began to progress further into the Production of the Trailer we continued to add more footage, using the Razor Tool majorly we Cut and lengthened the Clips accordingly and then began positioning them in the places we felt were most appropriate where they fit best to the intense moments within the Soundtrack. When the rise action begins, we wanted to follow the conventions and made sure that the clips were not overly long otherwise the Audience would get bored and we wanted to convey as much footage we collected as possible to create variety. We done this so that we had shots which coincided with the Music perfectly making them extremely effective for the Trailer, sometimes even emitting an eerie and on edge feel, we done this so it would raise tensions within the Audience.

Using Photoshop we created the imagery for the Title and the 'Coming Soon' Screen as it was important to have continuity and have the same text for both the Title of the film and that specific screen so they interlinked. After we created them we were able to import them and treat them in the exact same way we edited the rest of the Video using the Tools provided. Using a feature which is included within Premiere Pro we utilised this to produce the caption screens for the Trailer. We did not want the same Font used for the Title and 'Coming Soon' Screens because we wanted to differenciate them away from the rest of Trailer so they would act more iconic for the Film as opposed to the entire Trailer.

After we completed the Production of the Trailer we felt that to make it appear more Professional that we should add some Critical Praise and Ratings for the Film to urge and lure the Audience into wanting to go and see it depending on how well the Ratings appear. So, using Photoshop we created the Captions in the same fashion as we did the Title and then imported then and Cut then in according to the Soundtrack. But, for the Ratings we wanted to add a distorting effect which made them Flicker to the Music and have a Jump in the Music to make the whole thing seem eerie and distorted. So we split the Track using the Razor Tool, copied it so that the same piece of Track was doubled and placed them next to each other so make a jumping noise in the Track. We done the same with the Ratings Videostream and inserted a blank, black screen in between so it quickly flashed to black and then reverted back, this being cut in time with the Music. This same process was repeated for another Ratings Screen to add variety.

Finalised Trailer Ideas.

Camera Angles.
For the Trailer, to make it seem more obscure and interesting we want to utilize as many different shot compositions as possible to make it appeal more to its Target Audience, also so that they do not lose interest. With more diverse range of shots and compositions it makes the Trailer become more professional and gets the Audience noticing and more significantly accentuated.

Close Up
The majority of close ups will be used to convey the emotion on the characters' expression, varying on the moments within the Trailer they are portrayed. This can also be used to focus on details such as Locations and Objects.

Medium Close Up
This shot shows a larger proportion of your regular close up and allows us to view the situation a Character is within, revealing more about their Location etc. whilst still conveying the emotion clearly to the Audience.

Long Shot
This specific shot significantly occurs for shots such as panning establishing shots, setting the scene for new locations within a Movie. It is also strongly used when a shot composition is needed to get a Character themselves within a shot but also the situation they are in, the movement and its surroundings.

Low Angled Shot
This shot always plays on a strong representation of the Power a character holds in a situation (generally the Antagonist). This would be used more when we are more aware of the presence of an Antagonist which is usually nearer the peak of action or suspense within a Trailer.

High Angled Shot
This shot is usually utilised to make a character seem more vulnerable within a menacing and troubling situation, these shots can be typically used to gain momentum and create tension when approaching a Dark part or the action of the Trailer.

Character Stylisation.
The initial concept for the Trailer was to have this idea of 1 Vs. 1, Protagonist Vs. Antagonist, the plot being that the Protagonist had intervened with something which was apart of the lifestyle of Antagonist. This being cut down from an original idea which was to have a large group of Antagonists whom went after the vulnerable and singled out Protagonist. This idea was scrapped as it would have been unfair to hugely outnumber the Protagonist and cause them to be too vulnerable, we felt that they would meet their demise too soon and the 'Film' would go nowhere. With the inclusion of one Antagonist, we felt that it would follow the conventions of your stereotypical Horror Film, having such an intimidating and strong persona whom we know nothing about it, this style of Horror is played out in Multiple Films within the Genre e.g. A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday The 13th, Black Christmas, Stephen King's IT etc.

After researching and brainstorming Multiple possibilities of our own and styles of other Films it was concluded that we did not want to succeed other Films with a similar idea, instead we wanted to go against conventions and create a Horror Trailer which was completely unexpected and not what an audience would assume as a stereotypical plot. Re-thinking and brainstorming other ideas

Protagonist.
We made the decision to Style the Protagonist in Casual Dress to convey their normality and to make the piece more realistic. This is so that the Audience can relate to the Main Character and again, it adds to making the piece more realistic.

Antagonist(s).
The decision has been made to Stylise our Antagonists in Casual Clothes because we want to follow the anti-conventional theme which we have decided to ensue, this would be accompanied by the White Theatre Masks with Minor Blood Stains. These Masks create a Horrific look due to the emotionless expression on the profile of the face which can be seen as eerie and frightening. The Audience would be completely un-suspecting of the idea that an Antagonist would be dressed so normally and not so obvious for the viewers. Initially, a Killer would be expected to be Styled in Blood Stained and Ripped Clothing but not our Antagonists because we are going against conventions.

These are the Masks which we will use to Stylise our Antagonists within our Trailer.

Music.
For the Soundtrack of project, the Main Theme Music which overlaps across the Trailer itself is a Track featured in the Movie "Dead Silence", which is simply identified as its Theme Song (Although the Song does not play on the Trailer for the Film itself). This Music fit perfectly with Our ideas for the Trailer as the music melodic and slow but as the Track progresses, the pace picks up, the sounds within it become louder, there are elements of the song which raise to a higher pitch, combining different Dark Tones and Styles to create a sinister melody. The Trailer will reach different climaxes and we found that the Track would easily cut to different points to frighten the Audience. The Track's Film name, Composers and Record Company will be mentioned on Our Production Credits for the campaign of the Film.

Editing.
The Editing Element within the production for our Trailer will comprise of a combination of various stylings which are suitable for the piece we are producing and relative to the Horror Genre. This will not only include the type & pace of the cuts but the overall layout of the scenes and the transitions which can vary in pace. Here are some examples of the styles in which will be utilised within the Trailer:

☆ Jump Cut
This piece of editing can be used when a long piece of footage needs condensing and eliminates short clips of the time frame to make it appear shorter and without taking the passage out of order. Generally, the frames are removed do not surpass 4 seconds.

☆ Fade To Black
This editing style is often positioned within the transition of captions, slower shots and establishing shots, this is often used in earlier stages of the Trailer as it keeps the movement of the piece to a much lower pace and not creating a high intensity of suspense.

☆Flash To Black
Flashing a shot to a Black Screen often instigates moments where tensions are rising high later on within a Trailer, more often followed by an intense or frightening moment to build the suspense and make it edgier for the Audience. It also suggests that something dark and scary is going to occur and that the Audience is unknown as to what will happen next, this type of shot is very conventional of the Horror Genre.

☆ Blunt Cut
This style of editing is utilised during higher paced and sections of the Trailer which builds intensity and momentum through fast action. It is generally used when the Drama of the piece hits it peak and faster cuts are needed to include more shots and scenarios instead of more detailed editing, also so it coincides with the pace of the music of the piece (quick and short).

Mise-En-Scene.

Casting
Overall, the Project will feature 3 Characters so there will be 3 Actors featured. It will contain 2 Antagonists and 1 Protagonist in the piece, the Antagonists will be played a Male Actor and a Female Actor with the Protagonist played by a Female Actor.

Costumes
We wanted the Project to as far as they can, go against Conventions of your typical Horror Film. The unexpected factor of the piece would initially make the Film more striking and frightening for the Audience. Immediately, we made the decision to have all the Characters styled in Casual Clothing; this would not only shock the Protagonist but the Audience as well.

Props
The most significant props in which will be utilised within our Trailer are a knife (this being the weapon of choice), 2 White Theatre Masks (these being worn by the Antagonists), & the possibility of a mobile phone (this being property of the Protagonist). For our Trailer we specifically narrowed the use of Props as we do not want huge influence on them and do not want to draw the attention away from the Characters, Acting and overall piece. We also want to play strong attention to the emotional roller-coaster and movement of the piece.

☆ Lighting
There will be no use of any lighting effects during the process of filming as we want the piece to have the most natural and realistic feel as possible. For the Exterior Filming we will utilise the natural light provided (e.g. Street Lamps, the Moon etc.), as for the Interior Shots we will use the Household lighting (Wall lights, ceiling lights etc.) this will create the natural effects we want to create as well as making shadows and eerie effects which make the house more haunting and horrific for the Generic elements.

Dialogue.
There will be no Dialogue featured within Our Trailer, it does not seem appropriate for any to be included as well as that, it will direct the attention away from the intensity of the Trailer. Usually some dialogue is included to bring the Trailer to Life, to make it seem more realistic and to give the Trailer a direction for it to head in. These are all conventional aspects of the Horror Variety but we want to go against Conventions and create a solitary piece which is not your average Horror.

Sound Effects.

Heartbeat Pounds
This specific Effect will be utilised to build on Intensity near the Peak of the Trailer. This replacing the mainstream Track which will be playing over the footage of the Main sections. We want to do this to parallel the emotions of both the Characters within and also the Audience themselves so it builds suspension and create a Dramatic Climax for the Trailer to end on leaving the Audience reeling and unknown as to what will happen next, convincing them to want to go and watch the Film.

Screams
This Effect will be used towards the End of the Trailer to accentuate a massive finalised
moment in the Trailer to get the Audience on edge and frightened. This will influence the
Dramatic Climax for the Trailer and create a moment where the Audience are shocked as it is
completely unexpected (much like other Horror Trailers).

Door Banging Pounds
These Pounding Sounds will create the moment which builds the intensity within the Trailer, establishing the change in pace and the gaining of Momentum. It also instigates the point of the Trailer in which notifies its Audience that the Antagonist is lurking and creates this sense of danger and Horror.

Special Effects.
Because of our Style of Film within the Genre, Special Effects will not be necessary as it would not be appropriate in any specific places. If we were creating a Film which need the inclusion of Grotesque imagery or Elements e.g. Ghosts, Monsters etc. then would become more indefinite but that is not the case for us specifically.

Setting.
The Main Locations in which the Trailer will be shot in consists of Exterior Shots to establish the Environment of the Neighbourhood, also to convey the Antagonists approach. These shots will be composed in a local, eerie and isolated neighbourhood which conveys the Dark and Solitary atmosphere. Specifically for the Establishing Shots we will be utilising various locations such as a Graveyard & a Local Church. The Interior shots will shot within a Household (Damon's) and we will make significant utilisation of the Kitchen, the Porch, the Dining Area, the Living Room, the Main Hallway and Staircase.

Survey Results.

The Outcome of the results for the Survey will play huge influence on the Final Decisions for the Trailer which will include Stylisation, Composition, Mise-En-Scene, Characters etc. This is a way in which I can receive the opinions from my Target Audience to distinguish the expectations of the Trailer and how they would interpret a Film within the Horror Genre.

Are you Male or Female? (Total Votes: 11)

Male 5 (45%)
Female 6 (54%)

From the results, Females have predominantly exceeded the Male vote giving them a majority, this only by 1 vote so they are only segregated a small majority. It would be expected that Males would prove to be the classification in which would more likely to watch Horror Genre Films but that is not the case and they are almost equal to the Females. For the Trailer I will aim to produce a project which appeals to both Genders and is not segregated to a one-gender appeal. I will aim to create a Trailer and imagery for the campaign which is suitable for both Genders and not be biased.

What Age Are You? (Total Votes: 11)

11-13 1 (9%)
14-17 2 (18%)
18-21 8 (72%)
21+ 0 (0%)

In this case, the majority age is that of Our Target Audience aim proving that Horror Films are significantly more appealing to a younger generation. This has confirmed for us that this will be the Age Range for the Trailer and Genre in which we will be tackling and trying to break. The Trailer will emit a contemporary feel and be placed within the Modern day as opposed to setting the Time Period for the Trailer in a past situation which the Audience cannot connect with. It will also make the Trailer come to life and feel more realistic as it will be within the Modern day contemplating that the events of the Film could possibly happen, and we will aim not to completely far-fetch and create something which is near to very un-likely to happen.

What is your Preferred Film Title? (Total Votes: 11)

Intervention 6 (54%)
The Tormented 0 (0%)
Horrorville 2 (18%)
Forgotten 3 (27%)

The most popular Title proved to be "Intervention" by garnering the majority vote of the Public whom voted. Personally, this was my favourite option as it is very anti-conventional and not as typical for a Horror Generated Film as "Horrorville" & "Forgotten" are. The name is very vivid and creates a huge variety of plots which can be dealt with, it is also a striking name for the Audience to remember and can also become something which is iconic, instead of creating a Trailer Title which is obvious and not as appealing. It also creates this mystery factor as we are unaware as to what can happen with this Plot & Title as it is unexpected for an Audience to know what to expect, it could be anything.

What Kind of Location would you Prefer to see a Horror Film Set within?
(Total Votes: 11)

A House 3 (27%)

A Church 1 (9%)
An Abandoned Building 3 (27%)
Open Landscape 1 (9%)
An Urban Area 3 (27%)

For this question specifically, there was a joint majority for which people would Prefer to see a Horror Film to be set. "A House", "An Abandoned Building" & "An Urban Area" became the most popular answers so for our Trailer we aim to create a piece which is diverse and spreads across multiple environments and is placed within an Urban atmosphere. This will add variety to our piece, although there will be a focal area in which the Trailer focuses on but it will not be completely segregated to one place e.g. One room within a Household.

What Gender would you Imagine the 'Antagonist'? (Total Votes: 9)

Male 5 (54%)
Female 4 (45%)

The main popularity for this Question is that a Male Antagonist is the preferred option for the Audience. Conventionally, in a huge amount of Horror/Thriller Films the Antagonist is generally Male, there is not a hugely significant amount of these Styles of Film which feature a Female Antagonist (e.g. Fatal Attraction & Obsessed). We want to stay true to the Audiences opinions so we will aim to follow the decision of the Voting Poll, although we want to create a piece which is not your conventionally typical Horror Film but we want to make the piece more realistic. But, because there is a strong amount of Votes for a Female Antagonist we will take this into consideration in the Planning Stages.

What would you expect the 'Antagonist' to be Wearing? (Select 2) (Total Votes: 11)

Halloween Mask 3 (27%)
White Theatre Mask 4 (36%)
Hoody Hiding Their Face 4 (36%)
Drenched in Blood 2 (18%)
Suit 2 (18%)
Cloak 1 (9%)
Wedding Dress 1 (9%)
Regular Clothing 1 (9%)
Blood Stained Clothing 5 (45%)

For this Question specifically we had the inclusion of various Costume Styles which were both conventional and anti-conventional of the Horror Genre to see which ones would be most effective and selected for the anti-conventional style. The majority expected an Antagonist to be disguised in either a "White Theatre Mask" or a "Hoody Hiding Their Face" dressed in "Blood Stained Clothing" 2 of which are very conventional of a Horror Film, the "White Theatre Mask" being anti-conventional because of how bland they are but some would argue that they are eerie because there is no expression and we are unable to see the Face of the Person wearing it. This will be a strong contender for the final Costume Design.

What would you expect the 'Protagonist' to be styled like? (Total Votes: 10)

Casual Dress 6 (60%)
Formal Wear 3 (30%)
Fancy Dress 0
Underdressed 1 (10%)

The majority vote went to "Casual Dress", for this question for both the Audience and Ourselves there would not be any strong expectations for the Protagonist to be dressed other than casually because unless there is a situation for the Characters within to be at some form of Party then there is no other reason as to why we should see them in their everyday styling. We think this will be most appropriate and will be the style in which we follow for the Main Character.

What Gender would you imagine the 'Protagonist'? (Total Votes: 10)

Male 4 (40%)
Female 6 (60%)

Generally, if a Male Antagonist is chosen then a Female Protagonist is usually the opposing Gender selected to show a contrast between them (and vice verser). So we will stay true to the Audience opinions and have a Female Lead.

Do you find the use of 'Captions' in Horror Trailers effective? (Total Votes: 11)

Yes 11 (100%)
No 0 (0%)

This was the first unanimous decision made by the Audience Votes and Captions will in-definitely be included within out Trailer. This is a convention of Most Horror Trailers as it gives the Audience an understanding of what is happening or being Questioned as the Trailer progresses without having to see the Entire film. They do not give away the absolute plot but give the Audience a taster as to what is happening.

What Style of Music/Sound would you prefer to hear in a Horror Trailer?
(Total Votes: 11)

Melodic 1 (9%)
Slow Paced 1 (9%)
Frightening Elemental Music 3 (27%)
Fast Paced 1 (9%)
Both 5 (45%)

The majority vote for this part of the Survey went to "Both". This option personally was the one in which I would have Voted for as conventionally, Horror Trailers include both Styles of Music to build on the Intensity of the Project to get Audiences feeling nervous and tense. The Melodic Music being the Style which introduces the Trailer and the Frightening Elemental Music to build Momentum within the piece.

What pace would you expect a Horror Trailer to follow? (Total Votes: 10)

Fast Pace Throughout 1 (10%)
Slow, then gaining Momentum and Speed 9 (90%)
Slow Pace Throughout 0 (0%)
Begins fast then gradually Slows down 0 (0%)

The majority voted that the Trailer follows that pattern "Slow, then gaining Momentum and Speed". This specific pattern is one in which Most Horror Trailers follows as the Slow element of the Trailer introduces the Audience to the Movie, the Characters and the beginning of the Plot. As the Trailer begins to gain in "Momentum and Speed" it builds on the Action and the Intensity, this makes the Audience nervous and frightened as to what will happen next. It also moves the Trailer along reaching the peak of the Trailer which usually features an element which gets the Audience on edge. This a Style which our Trailer will abide to so it creates the Horror-Styled Trailer.

Would you expect a Trailer to reveal the Intentions of an Antagonist?
(Total Votes: 10)

Yes 3 (30%)
Partially 4 (40%)
No 3 (30%)

There was a Mixed Reaction this Question within the Survey, each answer was practically equal yet "Partially" received the majority vote (only by 1 vote). This questions our options as to whether we should reveal either not enough or too much about the Antagonist and what he plans to do to the Protagonist. This will be a strong decision to be made as this is one of the Main Factors within the Trailer, the fate of the Protagonist and the actions of the Antagonist. We will make strong decisions as to how we will go about creating this element about the Antagonist and how much we want our Audiences to know. Personally, I would not like the Audience to huge amount about the Antagonist, I would want them to know as little as possible so it entices them to want to go and see the Film and understand more about the Plot.

Intial Ideas - The Planning Stages - Sketches

Magazine Cover Designs.

Film Poster Designs.

Initial Ideas - The Planning Stages: Audiences

Target Audience
The general target audience for your typical film within the Horror variety would be an age range between 15-30 years old, the majority being young males. For the trailer specifically I plan to aim it at not only young males, but females too. Having strong female protagonists will make the film appeal to not only the males (by the action, graphic imagery, drama and the female protagonists) but the same will apply for the females as they will want to see how the story progresses, yet the graphic imagery will not be the selling point for them though.

Ratings
It is hugely significant to have an Age Range for this Genre of Film particularly because of not only the Themes it portrays but because their is always a specific Age Group to aim a film at. The film needs to be age appropriate for the Audience who will view it. It is important to create a Trailer in which the range will be enabled to witness as it would be completely pointless creating a Trailer which would not be eligible for a person younger than the Rating it is categorised within to go and watch a screening of. It would also be illegal to do so.

Initial Ideas - The Planning Stages: Detailed Ideas

Influences

The overall inspiration for the piece came about by the strong influence of film "The Strangers", but we had also drawn ideas from Urban Legends (particularly "The Babysitter Legend") and ideas such as household terrorism, something which is real and has a chance of happening, especially from historical and graphic events which occurred in America in the 1980s.

Plot

The story of the overall film begins with a group of friends hearing about gruesome urban legends within their local area, some of which supposedly ended in disaster and a nasty fate. They are also taught about Urban Legends worldwide also, many of which seem to have had dark endings. Skeptical and adventurous they decide to investigate for a joke at their local church and graveyard, unaware that what is about to happen to them is very real and even more oblivious that they are actually being watched the entire as they meddle with the events of an unknown society.

Casting
Protagonist
Brigitta Scholz-Mastroiann

Antagonist(s)
Aaron Game
Charlotte Meek

Camera Angles
For Horror/Thriller Films specifically the conventions they follow when it comes to the trailer and the film itself are very specific and similar. The pace of the film begins slow and introducing the Audience to the environment and the protagonists of the story, this is what the Trailer will connote to yet not unveiling too much detail about the plot. As the film begins to gain suspension and intensity the shots become faster paced and quicker cuts are utilised, plus they do not reveal any major details about the story, just the thrilling elements which will garner the audiences attention more significantly. Generally the shots will make no sense and lack continuity, this connoting to the conventional elements of such a trailer. Ultimately, the Trailer will end on a note in which have the audience reeling and not knowing what to expect and leaving the fate(s) of a Protagonist(s) unknown. Various shot styles will be used to convey these themes and styles, the majority being Panning Shots,
Wide shots, Extreme-Close Ups, Establishing Shots, Close-Ups, Long Shots etc.

Editing
For a Horror Trailer specifically, it is proven that the introduction and beginning section of the Trailer introduces us to the environment in which the events will unfold, slightly edges on the Plot of the Film and has a more positive mood about it, to enlighten the Audience, convincing them it is not what they are going to expect. The transitions from one shot to another will be lengthened and expanded upon, they will follow a much smoother and slower approach to change from each shot.

As the Trailer begins to build momentum and the more intense shots are began to be intertwined, the pace begins to pick itself up, adding to the suspension within its Audience. I want the Audience to begin asking themselves questions, questioning conspiracy theories and thinking that a situation such as the one within the Trailer itself can happen to them, frightening them. This building up to a final shock at the end of the Trailer to really intimidate and frighten them yet getting them excited and wanting to go and see the film.

Mise En Scene
Our ideas have been decided in precision so that we convey the Themes of the Trailer to its audience. The main elements of the Trailer which have been decided to be included are:

A Knife.
☆ Doors, Windows & Mirrors.
☆ A Mobile Phone.
☆ Large Household furniture (Breakfast Bar, Table and Chairs, Sofas etc.)

Character Stylisation
For the 'Protagonist' we decided to portray her in neutral yet light clothes, nothing too extreme, just your ordinary, average dressed Girl. This conveys the understand that she is innocent and just like everybody else.

The 'Antagonist' will be portrayed through dark Colours. Dark Colours (Like Red) signifies ideas of a Cynical, Evil and Nasty or even angered person. It is important that the audience never see the face of the Antagonist as it will enable us to read their thoughts through facial expression and some people may even connect to the Character, something which is not conventional of a Horror Film. We will use a style of 'Mask' to hide the face of the Enemy, connoting to Horror Themes.

Music
The core Music scheme for the Trailer is feature some music which underlines the dark tones of the film and following the conventions of the Horror Variety. We plan for the Soundtrack to start off slow paced with a eerie theme to it, perhaps a sinister piano tune, as there a few horror films such as "The Crazies" (A trailer which I analysed for the project - See 'The Crazies - Grid of 9'). The pace will start off slow to build on the intensity and suspense within the audience. The pace of the soundtrack will then begin rise in momentum to frighten and enhance the fear factors within the audience, some members of an Audience may be too horrified to watch a Trailer so will hide their eyes so they do not have to witness the events of the trailer unfold, but the Music gives them an understanding as to what is happening. It is crucial for our selected style of Music to match the Theme of the Trailer, and to be cut in precision to the Shots.

Sound Effects
-Heartbeat.
-Screams from the Protagonists.
-Footsteps.
-Banging & Crashing sounds.
-Knife scratching across a work surface.

The majority of our 'Sounds Effects' will be created through the ambiance, filtering into sections of our mainstream Trailer, all depending upon where & whether or not the noise is appropriate for the shot selection.

Dialogue
For the Horror trailer our group is planning, specifically we want to create an intense, uncomfortable and eerie atmosphere. This will mainly be generated by the silent and lack of dialogue within the piece, the less we hear from the protagonists the more mystery it adds and there is no requirement of the antagonists to speak either as it makes them seem more menacing, all of which connote to conventions of a Horror film.

Setting
The core locations for our trailer will be locations such as a
Forest, a Church, an isolated neighbourhood (a significant convention of a Horror Film) but mainly the utilisation of a large, yet isolated household which connotes to the theme of the film. Creating an eerie yet claustrophobic environment for the trailer, following the conventions of a horror. We did not want to use specific locations such as The City of London as we wanted to create a sense of universality within the piece, so it makes the audience believe it can happen anywhere in the world, at any time. Also, so that the trailer did not become ensnared to focus on the city itself and leaving it open ended so that a wider variety of locations can be used.

Initial Ideas: Storyboard #2

(Order: 1. Top Left /4. Bottom Left /6. Bottom Right)

1. 6 Main Protagonists of the Film are shown in their everyday lives. They all receive and anonymous invitation to a location which is unknown.

2. A House/Manor is shown, conveying the destination and setting for the film. The protagonists all meet and enter the place.

3. The protagonists meet the inhabitants of the place (the alleged 'Antagonists' of the film), there is a dinner & a gathering. Someone is killed, they are to believe it's a game...

4. There is panic and anguish amongst some, while others are still led to "play along".

5. Some go missing. Some are hiding. Others are trying to escape. Some people do not want them to escape.

6. The ultimatum shot of the trailer... There is someone standing in solitude, scared/worried expression. A shadow of an unknown character is seen standing behind them in a mask, immediately after a flash of lightning and a roar of thunder.

Cross Between the Styles of:
Saw - They are all in their for a reason.

House on Haunted Hill - The Location is somewhat isolated from society.

Quarantine - They're being taken out 1 by 1 and it is near to impossible to escape.
